BYU 31, Air Force 6

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Didn't score against Air Force, but sophomore tight end finished with 5 receptions for 114 yards, all between 18 and 29 per catch.

PLAY OF THE GAME

The defensive tone is set early — and, more importantly, sustained — as Cougar DB Quinn Gooch steps in front of a Shaun Carney pass on the Falcons' third play from scrimmage. The interception sets up BYU's first score, and the defense continues to dominate the rest of the way.

KEY CALL

Facing fourth-and-nine at the Falcon 29, Max Hall steps through a collapsing pocket and finds running back Harvey Unga a couple of steps ahead of linebacker John Rabold down the left sideline. Hall hits Unga in stride for the 29-yard TD score and a 24-0 third-quarter lead.

QUOTABLE

I did feel an increased urgency, from teammate to teammate. — Bronco Mendenhall, BYU head coach
