An anchor tenant has been found for a new downtown skyscraper.
Holland & Hart, the largest law firm in the Mountain West, will move into the top three floors of the 222 S. Main office building when it is completed in 2009. The $125 million, 22-story building is currently in the early stages of construction for Hamilton Partners.
The law firm will occupy 67,000 square feet of space in the building constituting over 15 percent of its total office space and house 65 lawyers, plus support staff.
"We appreciate the opportunity to become the anchor tenant," partner Carl Barton said in a news release. A big part of the draw for the new office space its "state-of-the-art architectural structure." While the building is mostly office space, the ground floor will have a mix of retail, restaurant and lobby space, Bingham said. Tenants have yet to be secured, but Hamilton Partners said they "are in discussions" with multiple potential clients.
There will be 9,000 square feet of retail space and 350,000 square feet of office space in the building. It is the first skyscraper being built in downtown Salt Lake since 1998 and is only two stories shorter than the One Utah Center, which is across the street.
