Outlook: Heading into region play on a roll. Next up: vs. Hillcrest, Friday.

2. Alta (4-1) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Points: 306. Last week: Beat Grant, Calif., 52-33

Outlook: Showdown with top-ranked Jordan is just five weeks away. Next up: vs. Skyline, Friday.

3. Bingham (4-1) Class: 5A

Was: 4. Points: 299. Last week: Beat Lone Peak, 31-3

Outlook: There's no reason the Miners should plow through Region 3 foes. Next up: at West Jordan, Friday.

4. Timpview (5-0) Class: 4A

Was: 3. Points: 297. Last week: Beat Mountain View, 49-17

Outlook: First real test probably won't come until the playoffs. Next up: vs. Tooele, Friday.

5. Cottonwood (5-0) Class: 4A

Was: 5. Points: 272. Last week: Beat Cyprus, 31-13

Outlook: Penalties aside, the Colts have emerged as one of the state's best teams. Next up: at West, Friday.

6. Layton (4-1) Class: 5A

Was: 7. Points: 253. Last week: Beat Davis, 21-0

Outlook: Can complete Region 1 trifecta with a win at Northridge. Next up: at Northridge, Friday.

7. East (4-1) Class: 4A
