Utah Valley State

VOLLEYBALL: Utah Valley State dropped its second straight match at the Michigan/Nike Invitational, falling 3-0 (28-30, 24-30, 21-30) to Georgia Tech.

The Wolverines will take on Temple on today in their final match of the invitational.

SOCCER: Two UVSC freshman netted their first goals, but it wasn't enough as the Wolverines fell to Wyoming, 3-2, after a late goal by the Cowgirls.

Freshmen Sara Walker and Katey Turner each netted their first collegiate goals as UV (0-3-1) fought back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits.

Westminster

SOCCER: The 17th-ranked Concordia (Calif.) Eagles controlled the match and defeated Westminster 3-0 on Friday. With the loss, the Griffins fell to 5-2-1 on the season.

Weber State

SOCCER: The Weber State women's soccer team (3-2-0) used two goals by freshmen, one by a sophomore and a career-first win in the net to earn a much-needed 3-0 victory over Boise State (2-3-0) on Friday at Wildcat Soccer Field.

Utah

VOLLEYBALL: Despite Kathryn Haynie's career-high 22 kills, the Utah volleyball team dropped its 2007 conference opener, 3-1, to San Diego State. Haynie also had three blocks and 12 kills in the loss. Lori Baird tallied 17 kills with a team-high six blocks. Keisha Fisher had 58 assists. The Utes face UNLV Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Utah State

VOLLEYBALL: The Utah State women's volleyball team will continue WAC play today when it hosts San Jose State at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

SOCCER: Utah State senior Abby Hunt netted her second goal this week in the Aggies' 2-1 loss to Oregon Friday afternoon in their home-opener at the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. USU falls to 2-4 with the loss, while Oregon improves to 4-1 with the win. Utah State is now 1-5 all-time against Pac-10 team, including an 0-1 record against the Ducks.
