Citing a significant history of violence, a federal judge has sentenced a Taylorsville man to almost five years in prison after the man fired several rounds at another vehicle in a road-rage incident while his wife and two young children were with him.

Christopher Kim Leech, 28, appeared in U.S. District Court Tuesday for sentencing on being a felon in possession of a handgun. Leech offered no comment before being sentenced.

U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart noted that Leech had a history of violence and that he was unwilling to accept responsibility for his actions. Although federal prosecutors recommended Leech serve a sentence of 51 months, on the lower end of the sentencing guidelines, Stewart ordered a sentence of 57 months.

After the road-rage incident last March, police were looking for him. Leech led police on a chase last April in Riverdale until he was boxed in by police cars. While approaching his vehicle, an officer noticed Leech was reaching to the front of his pants, and a Taser was used on him. Officers found a .22-caliber handgun with a fully loaded 15-round magazine in his right front pocket. Another 15-round magazine was found in an accessory pants pocket.

Leech's attorney said his client had also been fighting an addiction to methamphetamine. Stewart also ordered drug treatment.
