Brown in Milwaukee auditioning for Bucks

Utah Jazz restricted free agent Dee Brown has spent the past two days working out with several other guards for the Milwaukee Bucks, according to Brown's personal Web site blog.

The Bucks, who are apparently interested in covering themselves in case they were to lose restricted free-agent guard Charlie Bell to an offer bigger than what they'd want to match, on Tuesday afternoon told Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel writer Bob Wolfley that they were working out some players but would not name them.

Also on Tuesday, the Bucks signed their second-round draft choice, 6-foot-3 point guard Ramon Sessions of Nevada.

In Brown's Tuesday blog, he said he was vying with Scoonie Penn, Mike Wilks and Royale Ivey.

Jazz senior vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor said he had no comment about Brown or his workouts with Milwaukee other than to reiterate, "He's a restricted free agent."

In his blog, Brown said he hurt a rib on his first drill Monday but kept going. He also said, "The Utah situation is still in my head, too. I should be out there right now working and preparing myself for another great season, but this is the business. I will continue to (emphasize) to my Utah Jazz fans that's where I wanted to be."

The Jazz's qualifying offer to Brown is still valid, though Brown has said in the past that it contains no guarantees and that is what he wants. Utah has three players who can play the point under contract for the 2007-08 season — Deron Williams and recently signed free agents Jason Hart and Ronnie Price.

Brown's agent did not answer or return messages left for him Tuesday.

TRADE TALK: According to two Phoenix-area newspapers, the Suns and Jazz had a short discussion last month about trading Andrei Kirilenko to Phoenix for three-time All-Star Shawn Marion. O'Connor refused to comment on or verify the reports. Several sources in Phoenix say it was just a one-time contact that occurred a month ago and was never revived.

Both players are their teams' highest paid. Marion's name has come up in trade talks several times this summer, partially because his salaries of $16,440,000 for 2007-08 and $17,810,000 for the final year of his contract in 2008-09 help put the Suns over the luxury tax.
