From Deseret News archives:
Here's how and where fish are biting
NORTHERN REGION REPORT
HYRUM: One shore angler reported catching more than 40 fish (bass, perch and bluegill) using worms.
LOST CREEK: Fishing good for anglers using worms, pop gear, salmon eggs and PowerBait red and green, but the best was lemon twist. Peak hours were 6 to 8 p.m.
ROCKPORT: Bass and perch fishing still seem to be the best way to go if you want to catch fish.
CENTRAL REGION REPORT
DEER CREEK: Trout and bass anglers report fair to good success from both shoreline and from boat by using traditional methods and baits.
JORDANELLE: Good success for smallmouth bass near rocky points and submerged vegetation/structure by casting various types of action lures. Some of the bass are large 18-plus inches. Fair to good success for trout from shoreline and fair to good success for trout from boats. Bass limit is six, but immediately release all bass over 12 inches long.
STRAWBERRY: Good success from boats by trolling deep with downriggers or by jigging toward the bottom. More fish are starting to move to shallower water as well and being caught by float tubers, boaters and by shoreline anglers. Fish surface regularly in the morning and evening hours, so try a fly during these peak surface-feeding moments. Kokanee are starting to swim upstream to spawn.
NORTHEASTERN REGION REPORT
BIG SAND WASH: Good fishing for rainbow during the cooler hours. Most anglers are using boats because the west-side access was eliminated by the reconstruction of the dam.
BULLOCK/COTTONWOOD: Fair fishing for bass and rainbows and a few tiger musky being taken. Remember tiger musky have a size limit all fish under 40 inches must be released immediately
BROUGH: Reports are of good fishing for a mix of large browns and rainbows, especially during the coolest hours. Most anglers fish from the bank as there is no boat ramp or even a good place to launch due to the mud.
