WASHINGTON Luciano Emilio scored two second-half goals and D.C. United beat the New England Revolution 4-2 on Sunday to take a four-point lead in the Eastern Conference.
New England (12-6-6) went ahead 2-1 in the 54th minute when Shalrie Joseph's shot trickled through United goalkeeper Troy Perkins' legs, and Jay Heaps pushed the ball across the goal line for his first goal of the season.
But 5 minutes later, United (14-6-4), unbeaten in their last eight, seized control. Jaime Moreno took a short pass from Emilio, had his first shot blocked by Heaps but put the rebound past Matt Reis to tie the game.
D.C. struck again when Ben Olsen sent a pass across the box to Christian Gomez, and Emilio deflected Gomez's shot into the goal in the 67th minute. Emilio added his second in the 83rd minute, heading in a pass from Brian Carroll.
CHIVAS USA 3, RED BULLS 0: Carson, Calif., Maykel Galindo scored goals and Chivas USA ran its unbeaten streak to five games.
Ante Razov also scored to help Chivas USA (12-6-4) move within two points of Western Conference-leading Houston. Chivas could overtake the defending Major League Soccer champions with a victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday night.
New York (11-10-3) remained third in the Eastern Conference, six points behind second-place New England.
