Was: 1. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Knights shouldn't lose a match in region play; the real challenge will be avoiding overconfidence.

2. Cottonwood (15-3) Class: 4A

Was: 2. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: Colts open region play in dominant fashion which should continue if they utilize all of their offensive options.

3. Brighton (5-2) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Bengals begin region play and should be exciting with new players and a new (returning) coach.

4. Highland (1-0) Class: 4A

Was: 4. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Rams swept their first region opponent, but they know they won't all be that easy.

5. Morgan (4-3) Class: 3A

Was: 6. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Trojans should have no trouble with region play, but they'll need to prepared at state.

6. Viewmont (12-4) Class: 5A

Was: 16. Last week: 6-1. Outlook: The Vikings won the Northridge Tournament and appear to be rising among Region 1 squads.

7. San Juan (13-2) Class: 2A

Was: 8. Last week: 8-0. Outlook: The Broncos won their own tournament, but real test will be against Region 12 teams.

8. Rich (8-2) Class: 1A

Was: 11. Last week: 3-0. Outlook: The Rebels swept all three teams they played last week, including 5A's Skyline — at Skyline.

9. Alta (3-0) Class: 5A

Was: 10. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Hawks athleticism will make the Region 2 race a wild ride.

10. Layton (11-3) Class: 5A

Was: -. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Lancers prove they're for real by winning first region match against solid Davis squad.

11. Skyline (11-6) Class: 5A

Was: 12. Last week: 0-1. Outlook: The Eagles were swept by Rich, but new challenges ahead with region play starting.

12. Box Elder (16-3) Class: 4A

Was: 13. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Bees earn wins over Bear River and Logan but region play will show what the team is really capable of.

13. Clearfield (7-3) Class: 5A

Was: 14. Last week: 0-1. Outlook: The Falcons lose exciting match to Viewmont but have the potential to make a championship run this year.

14. Dixie (7-5) Class: 4A

Was: -. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Flyers have struggled without Samantha Misa, but plenty of talent remains and she returns soon.

15. Fremont (6-6) Class: 5A

Was: 9. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Silverwolves drop out of the top five in 5A but they earn their first region win against Northridge.

16. Am. Fork (7-5) Class: 5A

Was: 18. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: The Cavemen lose to Dixie but beat Hurricane as they gear up for region play this week.

17. Hurricane (14-2) Class: 3A
