Play of the game

With just less than four minutes left in the first quarter, UCLA cornerback Trey Brown intercepts BYU quarterback Max Hall and returns it 56 yards for a touchdown, giving UCLA a 10-0 lead. The turnover comes on second-and-seven at the UCLA 48 during BYU's best offensive possession to that point.

Key call

With 10 minutes remaining in the game and the Cougars driving and looking to take the lead, Hall is sacked by Bruce Davis on first-and-10 from the UCLA 13. Hall fumbles and the Bruins recover. Officials review the play to see if it should be ruled a fumble or incompletion, but the play stands.
