Today, 4:30 p.m. — Rose Bowl (91,136) — Pasadena, Calif. — Grass playing surface

Radio: 1160AM, 102.7FM

Sunny with high temperatures in the upper 80s.

PLAYER TO WATCH

KAHLIL BELL, RB, UCLA: Rushed for a career-high 195 yards against Stanford and will give the Cougars a solid test after they manhandled Arizona.

KEY MATCHUP

BYU LINEBACKERS vs. UCLA PASS PROTECTION: Bryan Kehl, Kelly Poppinga and David Nixon must find a way to pressure QB Ben Olson and an offensive line that blocks for a trio of talented backs led by Kahlil Bell.

THE STAKES

For BYU ... The Cougars upset the Bruins, and there is plenty of reason to believe they could make a run at an undefeated season and become the Boise State of 2007. This may be the biggest game for the Cougars in the post-LaVell Edwards era.

For UCLA ... Now that the Bruins are ranked No. 13, they have some territory to protect as they situate themselves for a BCS bowl and challenge USC.

THE TRENDS

For BYU ... The Cougars own the nation's second-longest win streak at 11 games, and a victory over the Bruins would give BYU a 3-0 record against the Pac-10 dating back to the Las Vegas Bowl.

For UCLA ... The Bruins amassed 624 yards against Stanford last week, 11th best in school history, and the 31 points in the second half were impressive as Ben Olson passed for five touchdowns.

THE EDGE

BYU will win if ... the Cougars can force turnovers, especially interceptions, while bottling up the Bruin run game. UCLA's secondary is suspect.

UCLA will win if ... the Bruins stretch BYU's defense by hitting long bombs, opening some holes for the running game. UCLA is capable of putting a lot of pressure on BYU rookie QB Max Hall.
