Outdoor notes
Six cows were shot with arrows near Clyde Creek in Strawberry Valley recently.
The Utah Bowman's Association, Bowhunters of Utah, Hoyt and Easton are offering a $6,000 reward. The reward will be given to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person or persons who committed this crime.
The investigation started on Aug. 18 when a single cow was found shot with an arrow. Davis said five more cattle were located with similar wounds on Aug. 25 and 26. As of Aug. 31, none of the wounded cattle has died.
The cows were not shot with hunting arrows, but with arrows with blunt practice points.
Anyone with information can call the Utah Turn in Poacher hotline at 1-800-662-DEER (3337). The identity of the caller remains confidential upon request.
MEETINGS ON FISHING
Should the fishing tournament rules in Utah be changed to draw big-name fishing tournaments to the state?
In addition to fishing tournaments, the DWR also wants public input about the best way to manage fishing contests. Catching a fish that has been tagged and then released into water is one example of a fishing contest.
The information will be presented at the Utah Wildlife Board meeting on Oct. 4. Meeting dates are:
Sept. 11 Southern Region, Beaver High School, 195 E. Center, at 7 p.m.
Sept. 12 Southeastern Region, John Wesley Powell Museum, 885 E. Main, Green River, at 6:30 p.m.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL
Thousands of red kokanee salmon are expected in for the annual Friends of Strawberry Valley Wildlife Festival.
The festival will be held Sept. 14 and 15 at the U.S. Forest Service visitor center at Strawberry Reservoir.
The festival is held annually to highlight the September spawn of the salmon and to recognize other wildlife species found in the valley. A fish trap and egg-taking facility is located behind the visitor center. Biologists from the Division of Wildlife Resources will be available at the facility to talk with you about the peculiar life cycle of these fish.
