Mitt Romney would definitely benefit from giving a speech on religion, just as John F. Kennedy did when he campaigned for president of the United States.
Being the first of any minority, especially one that has been misunderstood, can scare people. A speech on religion would let Mitt Romney ease those fears. He would be able to assure people that the values he and his church believe in are similar if not the same values all Americans look for in their leader.
There is a lot of interest in getting Romney to comment on his religion. It would get widespread coverage. Romney could then take that opportunity of having a captive audience to address the substantive issues. Rather than sharing the stage with several other candidates, as with a debate, Romney could have a national audience for himself.
