After two years of construction, the bridge over the face of the dam at Deer Creek Reservoir is open to motorists.
Geoff Dupaix, spokesman for the Utah Department of Transportation, said the new bridge was constructed to reduce the sharp turns at each end of the dam. The bridge is 500 feet long and stands nearly 100 feet in the air.
Initially, only two lanes across the bridge will be open to motorists. The remaining sections of U.S. 189 will open later this fall, Dupaix said.
