PLAYER OF THE GAME
Harvey Unga
Redshirt freshman rushed 15 times for 67 yards and a TD and hauled in nine passes for 127 yards and another score, accounting for 194 of the Cougars' 392 yards of total offense.
PLAY OF THE GAME
Catching a third-and-5 pass deep in Cougar territory in the third period, Unga appears to be stopped short of the first down. But he rolls over the would-be Arizona tackler and avoids coming in contact with the ground, regaining his feet and continuing on for a 48-yard gain.
KEY CALL
In hindsight, BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall said he should have attempted a field goal late in the third rather than try and fail a fourth-and-1 quarterback sneak at the Wildcat 2.
QUOTABLE
"It was a solid start, with a whole season ahead but I'm optimistic." Bronco Mendenhall, BYU head coach
