BYU

SOCCER: In the 99th minute of the BYU women's soccer team's first game of the season, freshman Kassidy Christensen scored a goal, assisted by fellow freshman Becca Riddle to beat Michigan State on the Spartans' home field, 1-0.

The Cougars outshot their opponents 14-10 and 10-5 in shots on goal. Riddle topped all shooters with three shots on goal, and corner kicks were even at four apiece.

Utah

VOLLEYBALL: The Utah women's volleyball team earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 (30-15, 28-30, 30-21, 30-22) defeat of North Carolina at the Mortar Board Purdue Premier on Friday.

UVSC

VOLLEYBALL: Utah Valley won back-to-back matches on Friday with a 3-1 win over Northern Illinois after prevailing in a five-game match over Tennessee Tech on Friday at the Butler Invitational in Indianapolis.

Utah State

CROSS COUNTRY: Utah State's men's cross country team finished second at the Utah State Open, while the women's team finished fourth. Junior runner Seth Wold placed first on the men's side and senior Stacie (Lifferth) Dorius finished sixth to take top honors for USU on the women's side.

VOLLEYBALL: Utah State lost a three-game match to Texas A&M in the first round of the Holiday Inn Classic hosted by Montana State University.

Weber State

VOLLEYBALL: The Weber State women's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over Texas-San Antonio Friday in the first match of the North Florida Labor Day Classic in Jacksonville, Fla.
