Fire restrictions lifted throughout much of Utah

Effective today, fire restrictions across much of Utah will be lifted.

• Tooele County and west of Interstate 15 in Utah and Box Elder Counties.

• Along the Colorado River from Dewey Bridge on Highway 128 to the west end of Highway 279.

Fire restrictions have already been lifted in the Ashley National Forest, but rangers are encouraging people to use caution when recreating outdoors.

The restrictions lifted include campfires and smoking outside a car or a building. Fireworks, ammunition and other incendiary devices remain prohibited.

Ashley National Forest officials said conditions are still dry at lower elevations. The area recently was devastated by the Neola North Fire, a wildfire that killed three men and destroyed more than a dozen homes and properties.
