WASHINGTON — Elizabeth Anne Peterson, chairwoman of the department of art and history at the University of Utah, has been appointed to the U.S. Senate Curatorial Advisory Board, a prestigious group that oversees the U.S. Senate art collection.

The appointment was announced by Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, who nominated Peterson for the post. The group, which includes 12 other historians, curators and experts from some of the country's most respected institutions, is responsible for advising the Senate Commission on Art, a panel of five senators, on the acquisition, care, preservation, and replication of decorative arts, historic objects and architectural features within the U.S. Senate collection.
