1. Lone Peak (8-0) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: 8-0. Outlook: Looked every bit like a nationally ranked team in its first tournament of the year.

2. Cottonwood (14-3) Class: 4A

Was: 4. Last week: 7-1. Outlook: The Colts aren't afraid of a challenge and will only get better because of it.

3. Brighton (5-2) Class: 5A

Was: -. Last week: 5-2. Outlook: No one expected much of this team as they return just one varsity starter, but the Bengals are tough.

4. Fremont (4-4) Class: 5A

Was: 1. Last week: 4-4. Outlook: First tournament was an eye-opener for young but very talented Silver Wolves.

5. Snow Canyon (4-3) Class: 4A

Was: 10. Last week: 4-3. Outlook: Showed they can play with the best 4A and 5A squads at Rocky Mtn. Classic.

6. Highland (0-0) Class: 4A

Was: 7. Last week: DNP. Outlook: First match is yet to be played for Rams, but they're loaded with talent.

7. Morgan (4-3) Class: 3A

Was: 8. Last week: 4-3. Outlook: The Trojans looked right at home competing against 4A and 5A schools last weekend.

8. San Juan (2-1) Class: 2A

Was: 9. Last week: DNP. Outlook: Early loss to Richfield only indicates how tough 2A will be this season.

9. Northridge (7-2) Class: 2A

Was: -. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Knights look poised to keep region 1 race interesting.

10. Alta (2-0) Class: 5A

Was: 14. Last week: 1-0. Outlook: The Hawks aren't playing the toughest pre-season schedule but they are playing well.

11. Rich (0-0) Class: 1A

Was: -. Last week: DNP. Outlook: Size doesn't matter to this volleyball powerhouse. Unafraid of a challenge, they will play Morgan in October.

12. Skyline (4-2) Class: 5A

Was: 12. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Eagles will take their talent to Las Vegas in a final preseason tournament.

13. Hurricane (12-1) Class: 3A

Was: 13. Last week: 6-0. Outlook: Tigers enjoy another winning weekend and prove they'll make the region 9 race very interesting.

14. Pl. Grove (2-5) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: 2-5. Outlook: The Vikings lost nationally ranked sophomore outside Danikia Mendivil to a knee injury but should find their way back to the top of the heap.

15. Lehi (4-3) Class: 5A

Was: 15. Last week: 4-3. Outlook: The Pioneers have the talent and should only improve as the season progresses.

16. Viewmont (4-2) Class: 5A

Was: 16. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Vikings have their work cut out for them in tough region 1 race.

17. Box Elder (7-2) Class: 4A

Was: 17. Last week: DNP. Outlook: The Bees two losses are to defending champion Cottonwood last weekend.

18. Carbon (8-5) Class: 3A
