MANTUA, Box Elder County A Kaysville man was killed and a Magna couple seriously injured in an accident in Sardine Canyon Saturday afternoon.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred around 5 p.m. on U.S. 89 near Mantua. Highway Patrol Sgt. Blaine Robins said a man and a woman were traveling east on the highway when a man in another vehicle attempted to turn onto the highway from a side road, turning in front of the couple's car.
Killed was 87-year-old Richard Weaver of Kaysville. Robins said Maryann and Norman Stoddard, both 51 and both from Magna, suffered serious injuries. Norman Stoddard was flown by helicopter to McKay-Dee Hospital and Maryann Stoddard was flown to Ogden Regional Medical Center.
Robins said neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the accident.
