Barry Dewayne Higbee, 46, who prosecutors say went into a woman's hotel room and sexually assaulted her, will have a resolution hearing in his case Sept. 13.
Police said the West Valley man entered the woman's room uninvited on June 13. After he started attacking her, she struggled with him, grabbed a pair of scissors to try to fight him off, and eventually broke free and ran away.
Higbee also ran off but was arrested at his mother's house the next day. He had been held in the Salt Lake County Jail on $250,000 bail, but his bail was reduced to $50,000 and he was released on Aug. 20. A judge has ordered him to stay away from the woman.
Higbee is charged in 3rd District Court with first-degree felony sexual assault, second-degree felony sex abuse, and two counts of first-degree felony aggravated burglary.
