THE GOOD: Under Kyle Whittingham's direction, the Utes are 2-0 in bowl games. They defeated Georgia Tech (38-10) in the 2005 Emerald Bowl and toppled Tulsa (25-13) in the 2006 Armed Forces Bowl. Whittingham also has a winning overall record (15-10) as Utah's head coach, including a 9-7 mark in Mountain West Conference play.

THE BAD: So much for the Land of Enchantment. Utah is 0-2 against conference foe New Mexico since Whittingham followed Urban Meyer as head coach of the Utes. League losses have also come against BYU, Colorado State, San Diego State, TCU and Wyoming over the past two years. Non-league setbacks include Boise State, North Carolina and UCLA.

THE UNCERTAIN: Following Meyer's successful 22-2 run at Utah is certainly a tall order for any coach. Whittingham, who made the jump from defensive coordinator to head coach, has gotten off to 3-1 starts in his first two seasons. Midseason struggles, though, have plagued progress. Utah has endured 1-3 stretches both times.
