Minor league baseball briefing
At Fresno, Calif., Nate Schierholtz belted a two-run homer in the fifth to snap a 3-3 tie and send the Grizzlies on their way to a 6-4 win over theBees on Monday night. Salt Lake took a 3-1 lead in the third on a two-run homer by Nick Gorneault, but Fresno tied the game in the fourth on a run-scoring triple by Tomas De La Rosa and a sacrifice fly by William Bergolla. In the fifth, Justin Knoedler led off with a double off Pedro Liriano and with two outs, Schierholtz lined a 3-2 pitch over the scoreboard in right field. The Bees did get the potential tying runs in scoring position with two outs in the ninth, but Brandon Wood lined out to left to end the game.
KEY STAT: Nick Gorneault had three runs had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Bees.

OWLZ 4, OSPREY 3
At Missoula, Mont., the Owlz scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to come from behind and grab the win against the Osprey. Orem scored two runs in the fifth off a series of singles and errors and in the sixth inning, Gordon Gronkowski hit a solo homer to tie the game and Jeremy Moore followed it up with a solo homer to give the Owlz the lead. Jordan Towns came in to pitch for the Owlz in the fifth and only gave up one hit over the next three innings, striking out three to get the win.
KEY STAT: Jordan Walden started for the Owlz, only giving up one earned run and striking out seven over four innings.
CURRENT SERIES: Orem leads, 2-0
