SYRACUSE A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house today at Syracuse High School, the newest and largest high school building in the state, will kick off its maiden year. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the school, 665 S. 2000 West, at 3 p.m. Following the ribbon-cutting, an open house will be held between 4 and 6 p.m.
Later this evening, the Syracuse Titans will play the Roy Royals in the school's inaugural football encounter.
The 385,000-square-foot facility will open its doors to sophomores and juniors in the Syracuse area Aug. 29.
The $38 million facility is Davis' eighth high school and was built to support the rapid growth in the area. While the school will only be at about half its 2,300-student capacity for the first few years, leaders say the raw land in the area will soon yield a number of housing developments.
