  • The governor is expected to announce by the end of this week whether he will call a special session of the Legislature to resolve issues regarding small-school-district legislation.

  • Salt Lake County is unlikely to vote on whether to allow a small-school-district ballot question before lawmakers vote.

  • It is unclear if the state law on small school districts allows the ongoing effort to keep Cottonwood High in Granite District, and split supporters might seek to clarify that part of the law in the special session.

  • Salt Lake County Clerk Sherrie Swensen is seeking a legal opinion on whether ballot language for a school-district-split question can be drafted after Sept. 1.
