Headwaters Inc., an alternative fuels company, said Chief Financial Officer Scott Sorensen will resign at the end of August to join a privately held company.

Replacing Sorensen will be Steven Stewart, who served as chief financial officer from July 1998 to October 2005, the South Jordan-based company said in a statement today on Business Wire.

After retiring as CFO, Stewart served as Headwaters' treasurer and worked on special assignments, according to the statement.

Headwaters sells coal-combustion products such as fly ash, building products including stone veneer and concrete block and provides technology and chemical reagents to the coal-based synthetic fuels industry.
