KOLOB, Washington County A community celebration that was canceled because of an approaching wildfire has now been scheduled for Saturday.
The annual Kolob Days celebration will include a discussion with federal authorities about living with wildfires, the Bureau of Land Management said Tuesday. Zion National Park's ecologist will discuss basic fire ecology, bug kill, forest fuels and fuel treatments.
"They're working on a community fire plan in that area," said LaCee Bartholomew, a BLM spokeswoman.
The Dakota Complex, a series of wildfires that burned through Zion National Park earlier this summer, prompted a brief evacuation of homes in this area. It was finally contained last month.
The Kolob Days celebration also will feature a barbecue, a community yard sale and other events.
