The Disability Law Center and Utah Developmental Disabilities Council have hired Kim Yeoman, a recent Brigham Young University graduate, as an outreach and training specialist. The wheelchair rugby player will offer outreach and train people with disabilities in southern Utah.
"Kim's work in southern Utah is critical. She will be an important point of contact for people with disabilities and their families," said Eric Mitchell, director of community relations at the DLC. "She will work with other community organizations and disability advocates to provide education, training and support to the disability community."
Yeoman's experience includes working with an international disability organization in South Africa. On a local level she has worked with Best Buddies and Friday's Kids.
Her ability to work with the disabled comes in part from her own disability. She was born with spina bifida, using and has used a wheelchair for the past seven years.
