OGDEN — Saturday at Lindquist Field, the crowd was energized for the game ahead. But when Tysen PoVey's name was called out in the Raptors lineup, the crowd burst into particularly loud cheers as he took his position in left field.

PoVey was recently called up from the GCL Dodgers to play for the Raptors in his hometown of Ogden.

"I'm glad to have the opportunity," PoVey said. "It's been my dream ever since I was 2 years old."

PoVey's debut was excellent. He hit a double in his first at-bat and scored the first run of the inning.

"It's good to get the monkey off the back early," PoVey said.

Ogden seemed to play with the same philosophy Saturday evening, and the Raptors got going early in the game. More than half of the team's runs came in the first two innings. After closing out Missoula in the top of the inning, Travis Vetters hit a three-run homer.

"It felt great," Vetters said.

It was the fifth time Vetters' had a first at-bat home run.

"I've had some good pitchers to hit, and my hits just happen to go out."

In the second, with the bases loaded, Jamie Pedroza hit a double that brought PoVey and Parker Dalton home. Ogden's Jovanny Rosario and Jamie Pedroza also scored before the inning was over, putting Ogden up 7-0.

In the third, the Osprey were able to put a run on the board when Geraldo Bustamante crossed home. After a scoreless fourth, the Osprey attacked again in the top of the fifth and scored their second run. But when the runner on second, confused about the number of outs, left base to head for the dugout he was tagged out to bring the inning to an end.
