Rescuers near Utah mine collapse area

The families have been briefed regularly on the progress of the rescue efforts by mine officials and even relatives who are also miners.

Emery County Sheriff Lamar Guymon, who has spent a considerable amount of time with the miners' families, said they were doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances.

"They're putting on a good front, but how would you feel?" he said.

The community of Huntington continues to rally around the families of the trapped miners. Signs posted on fences, churches and in front of homes and shops are asking people to pray for "Our 6" and "Our Miners."

A candlelight vigil was held in town Friday night with more than 200 people attending. Tonight, the Emery County towns of Huntington, Cleveland and Elmo are invited to gather at a local LDS chapel for a fast for the trapped miners and their families.

A fund to help the families has been set up at Zions Bank in the name of the Crandall Canyon Family Support.
