    The Intermountain Society of Artists will host a lecture and demonstration by local pastel artist Colleen Howe at its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening at 7 at Wheeler Historic Farm, 6351 S. 900 East. There is a $5 non-membership fee. For further information visit www.artists.org.

    The Salt Lake County Art Committee has issued a call for entries for local artists interested in exhibiting their work in the Rose Wagner Art Gallery. Deadline for entries is Aug. 31.     The Cedar City Arts Council, in association with the Utah Shakespearean Festival, has announced that its 6th Annual Fall Arts Festival will take place Sept. 21-22. Applications can be downloaded by visiting www.cedarcityartscouncil.org. There is an application fee of $5; deadline for entries is Sept. 8.

    The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA) will offer a free Family Art Project on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. "Passion for Form," will explore the arts of Cambodia, Thailand, Burma (Myanmar) and Vietnam. For more information call 581-7332.
