"I Love You Again" (1940) is the best film in this set, a riotous comedy about a dull businessman (Powell) who doesn't realize he's been suffering from amnesia for years. A conk on the head causes him to suddenly revert to his former self — a wily con artist. The one hitch is his wife (Loy), who wants a divorce. Well-written and well-played by a game cast. The young scout who "discovers" oil is Carl Switzer, "Alfalfa" in the "Our Gang" comedies.

"Love Crazy" (1941) has long been a personal favorite of mine, with Powell trying to prove he's crazy so wife Loy can't divorce him, despite competition from Jack Carson, who is a riot as a pompous peacock named Ward Willoughby. This is one of the zaniest of screwball comedies, and very funny. (The Cary Grant-Ginger Rogers farce "Monkey Business," which came along a decade later, has a number of similar gags.)

Extras: Full frame, vintage short films and cartoons, trailers, audio-only radio show (not available individually; it should be noted that the "Thin Man" movies, previously available only in a box set, have been released individually for the first time, $14.98 each)
