The Utah Department of Commerce on Wednesday warned that Utahns could be facing several new scams.
Other states have released information about scams involving fake charities and organizations seeking money for victims of the Minneapolis bridge collapse.
The department urges people to be wary of any solicitations from organizations that are unknown to them. All valid charitable organizations are registered. Consumers can look at www. consumerportection.utah.gov to search for an organization.
The department also is encouraging people to leave any unfamiliar e-mail unopened, never give personal information over the phone and be wary of people claiming to be officials asking for donations.
