Davis County officials announced Tuesday they have confirmed one case of West Nile Virus.
It was the first human case announced for Davis County this summer and was found in a person between 18 and 39, officials said. Humans have also been found to be infected in Salt Lake, Uintah and Grand counties.
The virus can cause encephalitis and viral meningitis. It is spread by infected bird populations and mosquitoes. It is rarely fatal.
To find more information about the virus, call a Davis County hotline at 801-451-3660, or visit www. daviscountyutah.gov/health or www.health.utah.gov.
