Camp center: A quick recap of Tuesday's football practices at BYU, Utah

Utah

First down: The Utes practiced as one group at the baseball field, where two-a-days begin Thursday. The morning workout was Utah's last without full pads.

Head-turner: Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said running backs Matt Asiata, Ray Stowers and Darryl Poston are separating themselves from the pack. Freshman wide receiver Jereme Brooks also drew praise from Whittingham.

Injury report: None.

BYU

First down: The Cougars put on shoulder pads Tuesday in their third practice of fall camp.

Head-turner: Backup quarterbacks James Lark, Sam Doman and Jason Munns saw more reps with No. 2 QB Brenden Gaskins out with an injury.

Injury report: Gaskins fractured the tip of his middle finger in Monday's practice. He was dressed and on the field Tuesday, but did not participate in drills.<
