No Boots, No Buckle, No Problem is the theme for the 2007 Davis County Fair Aug. 15-18.

"We tried to have something for everyone, every day," said Dave Hansen, fair director.

Fairgoers will enjoy many traditional events like a PRCA rodeo, free nightly concerts, carnival, demolition derby, car show, free kids pony rides and farm animal petting area, truck and tractor pull, free nightly movies, dutch oven cook-off, all-you-can-eat-ice cream, 4-H activities, and equestrian events.

"Our two biggest attractions to the fair are the free pony rides and farm animal petting zoo," said Hansen. "When else is your kid going to touch or ride a pony for free?"

In response to fairgoers' comfort, this year's free pony rides will be housed under a covered area to help keep children and ponies out of the sun.

Another change is the location of the PCRA rodeo.

"We've moved the PCRA rodeo back to the outdoor arena" said Hansen. "It's more comfortable, has more capacity and people can enjoy being out under the stars."

Wednesday night, conditions allowing, there will be a fireworks show following the demolition derby.

Admission to the fair is free for all ages, every day. Only four events require paying an extra fee: Wednesday's demolition derby, Thursday's truck and tractor pull, and the PRCA rodeo Friday and Saturday. The demolition derby and rodeo will cost $10 for ages 13 and up, $5 for youths 5-12 and free for 4 and under. The truck and tractor pull costs $5 for all tickets, and 4 and under are free.

This year, there are four free concerts each night. Wednesday's artist is Alex Boye from the popular group Jericho Road. Thursday's group is Imagine, a tribute band to the Beatles. Friday night features the piano music of Jon Schmidt. Saturday is the crowd-pleasing a cappella group, T Minus 5.

Families are invited to grab some food and a blanket and head over to the South Lawn to watch a free family movie at dusk. Thursday night's movie is "Charlotte's Web" (G), Friday is "Over the Hedge" (PG), and Saturday is "Batman Begins" (PG-13).

There are many other events and exhibits to enjoy at the fair.

"People should take a look at the things in the Living Arts exhibit building," said Hansen. " It's amazing, the craftsmanship of what some people have made with their own hands."

Hansen can't promise perfect weather, but he does invite fairgoers to an enjoyable experience. "I hope everyone will come out to the fair, be safe, have a good time and go home happy."
