Despite a National Weather Service flash-flood watch issued for much of the southwestern quarter of Utah Thursday, authorities in five counties reported no problems by nightfall.

In Washington County, a sheriff's dispatcher said the county had not even seen rainfall on Thursday. Authorities in Kane, Beaver, Garfield, Piute and Wayne counties also reported no problems.

In northern Utah, spatters of rain fell throughout the day Thursday, including some brief but heavy thunderstorms. Several basements and streets in Midvale and West Jordan had experienced minor flooding by about 8 p.m.

Weather Service lead forecaster Mike Conger said three-quarters of an inch of rainfall was reported in South Jordan as a thunderstorm moved slowly through the area. The service also received reports of children swimming in a flooded park.
