GRIZZLIES MOVE: The Utah Grizzlies have traded forward Danny Stewart to the Reading Royals of the ECHL for the rights to forward Justin Bourne, who is the 24-year-old son of former Grizzlies coach Bob Bourne, who was on the bench 1999-2001.

Following his collegiate career at the University of Alaska at Anchorage, Justin Bourne joined the ECHL's Alaska Aces for the conclusion of the 2006-07 season when he had three goals and three assists in nine regular season games. Bourne was voted Anchorage's most valuable player, recording 21 assists and 10 goals in 37 games in 2006-07.

Boxing

HOLYFIELD TO FIGHT: Evander Holyfield will replace Ruslan Chagaev in a bout against Sultan Ibragimov in Russia in October, six days before the former heavyweight champ's 45th birthday. Event organizers announced Thursday that Chagaev, the WBA heavyweight champion, was withdrawing because of unspecified medical reasons. The 32-year old Ibragimov, who will be fighting in his native country, is 21-0-1 with 17 KOs.

Cycling

PETACCHI RETURNING: Italian cyclist Alessandro Petacchi will return to racing this weekend after being cleared of doping charges by his national federation. Petacchi will compete in Germany's Rund um die Hainleite on Saturday and the Sparkassen Giro Bochum the next day, his Milram team said Thursday.

ASCANI FAILS TEST: Italian time trial champion Luca Ascani tested positive for EPO and was suspended Thursday by his country's Olympic committee pending a hearing. The 24-year-old rider faces a two-year ban if found guilty of doping.

College hoops

WOJCIK GETS EXTENSION: Tulsa extended the contract of coach Doug Wojcik by two years Thursday after he pulled the program out of a run of three straight losing seasons.

The extension will keep Wojcik with the Golden Hurricane for six more seasons, through the 2012-13 season.

Tennis

ACURA CLASSIC: At Carlsbad, Calif., Maria Kirilenko earned the biggest victory of her career with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win over No. 3-ranked Jelena Jankovic on Thursday. Kirilenko's victory moved five Russian players into Friday's quarterfinals, including No. 1 seed Maria Sharapova, who advanced with a 6-0, 6-3 win over No. 13 Tatiana Golovin of France.
