In the Deseret Morning News (Feb. 1) respected LDS filmmaker Kieth Merrill was quoted encouraging other LDS filmmakers and writers not to compromise their core principles and values when success comes their way. This can prove difficult in a culture inundated by sex, drugs and violence.
The best way to encourage filmmakers and writers to produce positive media is to support them. We must consistently produce good work with positive values. Among the few organizations that do so are Kieth Merrill's Audience Alliance studio and Utah County's New Play Project. Go watch a movie produced by Audience Alliance or go see a play put on by New Play Project.
You will not only be supporting local artists, but you will contribute to the production of positive media.
