Billings-Ironton timeline

1980s — Lewis Billings buys at least 160 acres in the Ironton area

1992 — Billings gives Provo an option to buy 139 or 149 acres

1994 — Mayor George Stewart hires Billings to work for the city

1997 — In April, Billings files disclosure of ownership of the land

1997 — In June, Billings resigns city post to run for mayor

1997 — In November, Billings wins the first of three terms

1998 — In April, Billings places his Ironton land in a blind trust

1999 — Provo exercises the option to buy 139 acres from Billings at $3,000 per acre

1999 — Billings donates 10 acres to the city to end a dispute

2001 — Billings wins a second term

2005 — Billings wins a third term

2007 — In July, Billings files annual disclosure form

Now — City is preparing to sell the first 10 acres in the Mountain Vista Business Park for $110,000 an acre to Action Target
