I believe that ever since President Franklin D. Roosevelt taught our politicians that they could buy votes with taxpayer money we have been on the slippery slope to socialism.
I have a plan. Take all entitlements out of the federal budget and create a Federal Entitlement Consumption Tax (FECT). Let any changes of entitlements be proposd by Congress and approved by the president, but make the final authority the people every two years when they vote for a new Congress.
Let the current federal income tax system be limited to the cost of running the government under the Constitution. Properly constructed, this plan could provide the base for paying for Medicare. I believe that this system would almost eliminate vote buying and would be self-regulating.
