OAK CITY, Millard County — Flash flooding has washed out bridges, roads and left a group of campers stranded in a canyon near here.

The Millard County Sheriff's Office said today they are sandbagging residences and roadways around the town after flooding in Oak Creek Canyon. Water and debris closed state Route 125 between Leamington and Oak City on Wednesday night. The road leading up the canyon is closed today.

A pair of bridges were taken out by the water. A group of campers in the Ponderosa campground were stranded, but chose to stay the night. The sheriff's office said there was no word on if they were able to get out today.

Homes and streets have had mud and water damage. The sheriff's office said the flooding is attributed to a wildfire that hit in the area last year.
