HOURS: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; weekends and holidays, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

GETTING THERE: The BxM11 express bus from Manhattan travels up Madison Ave., between 26th and 99th, to the Zoo's Bronx River entrance (Gate B); then it returns on Fifth Ave. Fare is $5 payable in quarters, each way. Check times at your hotel. Yellow cabs go to the zoo, but are not available for the trip back.

ADMISSION: Adults, $14; children (ages 3-12), $10; seniors (65+), $12; children two and under, free

TRANSPORTATION IN THE ZOO: Zoo shuttle ($3, pay once, ride all day, seniors 65+ free) or ride Skyfari ($3) to see zoo from the air.

HIGHLIGHTS: African wild dogs, Tiger Mountain, Congo Gorilla Forest, Camel rides, giraffes
