Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. has been selected to help lead the nation's governors over the next year.
Huntsman was elected to the National Governors Association's executive committee during the group's annual meeting in Traverse City, Mich., on Monday. The committee includes six other governors and helps determine the association's agenda.
"The NGA is an invaluable organization that has the ability to shape the national agenda by lobbying Congress on issues that are important to the states," Huntsman said in a statement. "I particularly look forward to addressing issues that impact Utah and the western United States."
Huntsman is also the vice chair of the Republican Governors Association.
