PROVO — A $73,000 grant from Utah County is expected to go toward completion of the new Provo Center for the Arts.

The Utah County Commission awarded the grant to Provo out of the county's tourism, recreation, culture and convention tax.

Provo's Parks and Recreation Department applied for the grant.

The City Council that voted Tuesday put the decision for how to use the grant on the agenda for its Aug. 7 meeting.

The Parks and Recreation Department has recommended that the council appropriate $37,000 for general construction costs for the arts center. The other $36,000 would go to pay for landscaping costs.
