I write to emphasize we are not subjects to a king. In our Constitution we have checks and balances to regulate power. We fought for our independence to free ourselves from secret absolute power abused by King George III. Now King George W. with his sidekick Cheney have subjected combatants to torture, have kidnapped American citizens and sent them to prisons in countries where torture is conducted, and have split our resources to fight where our true enemy did not exist until we went there. These crimes need to be accounted for.
