The Utah Department of Transportation is distributing new versions of the state map, with more data about things such as rest stops, fish hatcheries and location elevations.

Copies of the map are free of charge and can be ordered online at udot.utah.gov, or 965-4000. UDOT will ship them free. The map, which has a picture of a southern Utah slot canyon on the cover, also incorporates the new state slogan: "Life Elevated."

UDOT has printed at least 500,000 copies of the map at a cost around $70,000. The agency said demand has grown for copies of the map.

"In the digital age we live in, you would think people are using other sites like MapQuest and Google Maps — and a lot do use them to plan their vacations — but we see demand growing for our maps. I think the public still enjoys seeing a paper copy of our state," UDOT spokesman Nile Easton said.
