Updates on other fires:
Dairy Valley Fire: Burning area near Grouse Creek, it grew from 800 acres Friday to 7,000 acres by mid-morning Saturday, largely due to winds and lack of humidity. Ranch homes that were threatened Friday are no longer in danger despite the increase in acreage that is burning.
"We are just working with what we have to work with," said BLM spokeswoman Erin Darboven. "We have limited resources right now."
Kimbell: Firefighters gained a good deal of control over this fire, which covers 7,500 acres in the Stansbury Mountains approximately 15 miles from Grantsville. The fire was about 20 percent contained Friday, but firefighting went well and it is now about 45 percent contained. Previously, 24 homes and a Wal-Mart building were in danger, but that was not the case on Saturday.
"Right now, they are not imminently threatened," said Darboven. "We're feeling a lot better about the residences and the Wal-Mart building. The threat level has decreased."
Monarch: This fire in the Lakeside Mountain area in Tooele County grew from 24,000 to 24,382 burning acres from Friday to Saturday, but firefighters are making gains in battling the blaze. The fire was about 70 percent out by mid-morning Saturday and expectations are it could be fully contained by Saturday night.
