The Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District has been awarded a federal grant of more than $2 million for earthquake mitigation on its West Jordan headquarters complex.
The four buildings will be retrofitted so they could still operate after an earthquake.
The federal grant will cover about 75 percent of the $2.7 million project. The water district will fund the other 25 percent.
The Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District is one of the largest water districts in Utah, delivering potable water to approximately 900,000 people in the Salt Lake Valley.
