In 2004, he was elected as a Republican to the Utah House of Representatives from District 5 in Logan. He was re-elected in 2006. He said he expects to resign soon since he will be moving out of the district.
Kathy Wyatt, who was greeted by hugs from local friends, said, "For me, I am excited to come home."
After graduating from Snow, she transferred to USU, where she met Scott Wyatt. After their marriage, she dropped out of college and worked as a secretary to put him through law school. They have four children.
Other finalists for the position were Dr. Gary Carlston, an education professor at Utah State University and education advisor to former Gov. Michael Leavitt; Dr. Val Peterson, longtime administrator at Utah Valley State College; Dr. Paul Prestwich, vice president at Sussex County Community College in New Jersey; Stephen D. Taylor, owner of an investment firm and former top official with Citicorp in New York; and Dr. Richard White, executive vice president of Snow College at Richfield and formerly academic vice president on the Ephraim campus.
